Defending Champions Face Local Derby

The draw for the second round of the eircom League of Ireland Cup has thrown up some intriguing clashes, including the meeting of local rivals Derry City and Finn Harps.

With the Donegal side back in the Premier Division in 2008, the two sides have already met in the league with Stephen Kenny's Candystripes emerging victorious.

Derry are also the defending champions, and are joined in Pool B by the clash of Sligo against the winners of the Galway United and Longford Town tie.

In Pool A, Wexford Youths will take on Kerry League having dispatched of Cobh Ramblers in round one, while FAI Cup champions Cork City will take on Limerick 37.

Pool C will see league champions Drogheda take on Shelbourne, with Dundalk making the trip to Bohemians. UCD against Dublin rivals St Pat's and Bray Wanderers versus Shamrock Rovers completes the draw.

Second round fixtures will be played on May 5th/6th. The winners will be entered into an open draw for the Quarter Finals.
