CABINTEELY HIT FOR FIVE

Cabinteely Boys were the visitors to Brickfields on Saturday morning to play our 13s. The Saints began in confident fashion - quick in midfield and a constant threat down the wings.

Cabinteely struggled to match them in the first 10 minutes and found themselves 2-0 down. Good work down the right by Karl Tims and a cross from the No.9 found Keifer Byrne ghosting in at the back post to side foot home for 1-0.

Minutes later Byrne turned provider for Tims when his cross from the left was brilliantly headed home by Tims. Pat's were cruising and when Tims grabbed his 2nd of the game there was no way back for Cabinteely. Great interplay between Keifer Byrne and Craig Smithers released Tims through on goal. The striker kept his composure to slot home.

Sloppy play at the back allowed Cabinteely nick a goal just before the break punishing the Saints for not taking their opportunities to clear. To their credit the visitors started the 2nd half brightly without creating any clear-cut chances.

In the 49th minute Daniel O'Rourke's quick thinking free-kick found Andy Mason wide out left and his angled pass to Keifer Byrne allowed him to beat the Cabinteely offside trap and coolly slot home goal number 4.

Pushing to try and score a 2nd Cabinteely were caught on the break as Dan Hynes released Danny O'Leary through 1 on 1 - forcing their goalkeeper to take the Saints striker down just outside the box. Eoin Bynre's shot from the resultant freekick was deflected into the path of Craig Smithers, great feet and a left footed shot low into the bottom corner sealed the Saints 5-1 win.
