PARTRIDGE NAMED FAI CUP MAN OF THE MATCH

Saints' defender David Partridge received his man of the match award from former FAI President Milo Corcoran at the end of a hard fought 1-0 victory over Limerick in the 3rd round of the FAI Cup last Friday.

"As expected Limerick threw everything at us, they created a few chances in the first half and perhaps we rode our luck a bit", said Partridge.

"In the second half we played a lot better, our fitness began to show, we began to put them under a bit of pressure and we started to put some good ball into their box".

The defender was also delighted for the goalscorer:

"It was great to see young Anthony Costigan coming on and scoring on his debut for the club".

Partridge started the match with John Lester as his new partner in central defence, one of several partnerships at the back this season.

"With all the injuries this season it's been hard to have a settled side from one week to the next but over the last five or six games I feel we've started to put in some good performances and hopefully we can keep this up going into the break with a good result against Drogheda"
.
St Patrick's Athletic take on Drogheda United on Friday night at United Park and their next home game at Richmond Park is against Dublin rivals Shamrock Rovers at Richmond Park on Saturday 4th July.
