SCOTTISH STRIKER SIGNS FOR SAINTS
St Patrick's Athletic are pleased to announce the signing of 26 year old Scottish striker Alex Williams.
Glasgow-born Williams began his career as a 16 year old with Stirling Albion where he scored over twenty goals in his first full season as a professional.
Williams went on to play for a number of Scottish clubs including Greenock Morton, Clyde and Ayr United and continued his impressive goal-scoring form.
In 2009 he joined Dundalk and scored 7 goals in 15 appearances in the League of Ireland for the Louth club.
“Pete Mahon called me, he outlined his plans for the club and I was interested from the start”, said Williams, “I felt I did well for Dundalk last year but I would like a full season to see what I can do and thankfully Pat's have now given me that chance”.
Being a Scottish striker will no doubt draw comparisons with last season's top league goal-scorer Gary Twigg.
“I know Gary well, he had a terrific season and it would be brilliant if I could make an impact like that”, said Williams, “I'll just set out to do the best I can do, I'll have my own goal targets in mind and hopefully I'll start the season well and really hit the ground running”.
