SAINTS FUTSAL CUP A GREAT SUCCESS

The first Saints Futsal Cup competition ended with the victory of the Polish team Blue Magic who proved too strong for others and won the Cup undefeated.

Their player Artur Opeldus was the leading goalscorer over the two day tournament with 10 goals and another Polish team, Tedex, finished the competition in second place.

Ovidiu Matiut on behalf of St Pat's is pictured presenting the Blue Magic team members with their awards.

St Patrick's lost their second round group games with Blue Magic and Tedex but proved that their young team is still well able to compete at the this level.

Coach Jose Ferriera said” the tournament was an excellent opportunity to introduce a few new players from the St Pat's U 16's to the senior team and they were not too far off the standard, it shows that futsal at St Patrick's has a bright future ahead”.

Congratulations to all teams referees, and especially supporters for a very enjoyable two days of futsal and good luck to all involved in the upcomoing FAI Futsal Cup.

The FAI Futsal Cup kicks off at the end of this month with St Pat's facing Blue Magic, Shamrock Rovers and a team from FAS in a very tough qualifying group.
