BOARD REPLY TO THE "PATS FOR RICHMOND" LETTER (1)

31st March 2006
Dermot O'Hara
Pats For Richmond

Dear Dermot

Thank you for your recent letter to the board outlining your views and the views of the other members of “Pats For Richmond” on the future of our club.

Firstly I would like to clarify the comments attributed to me in the media. I had expressed the view that those attending the Patrons' meeting in January felt that a ground-share at Richmond Park was an option. Unfortunately this was quoted in the press without referring specifically to Richmond Park and indeed the context in which it was placed actually gave a misleading impression that it referred instead to Tallaght. If this has caused offence to supporters I unreservedly apologise for that, I was not seeking to misrepresent the views of the Supporter Patrons nor would it ever benefit myself or the club to do so.

Secondly I will try to answer the specific questions that have been raised in your letter:

Do the Board agree that development of Richmond Park is a viable long-term proposal?

The club's current financial situation does not allow for any further development of Richmond Park. Our understanding is that no further grant aid will be made available to us to help pay for ground development in Richmond Park. While this may not be the case forever, it is certainly the case in the short term. The Board is willing to pursue all options as long as we feel that the club will be able to progress on and off the field, and would welcome talks with any parties in relation to this.
