McDowell’s Richmond House

It is with great pleasure that we were able to announce the club is taking over McDowell's Richmond House. ‘McDowell's' has been a great St Patrick's venue over the years and for the club to be taking it over is wonderful news for all. As many supporters know, the club was founded in McDowell's and we have celebrated many wonderful occasions in this famous landmark.

I wish to thank Pat Ward and Mrs Ward for their many years of support for the Club. I know they are both pleased that the pub is being taken over by the Club and that the values important to them will be maintained by us. We truly look forward to seeing Pat and Mrs Ward back at McDowell's on a regular basis, and please God, joining us on future nights of celebration for the Club.

Of course, it is now up to everyone involved with St Patrick's Athletic to make a success of McDowell's. We also need the people of Inchicore to really get behind us on this. Huge support has been generated by ‘Pats for Richmond' and it is great to see that so many people want us to stay in Inchicore and be successful here. To be successful, we need to derive revenue from every available source and to finally have a public house under our control is a huge step in the right direction in this regard. Over 2,000 people signed the ‘Pats for Richmond' petition. It would be great if everyone who wants us to stay and be successful in Inchicore could see their way to giving custom to McDowell's Richmond House whenever possible.

Our club values of friendliness and respect for all will be reflected in how we run McDowell's. PJ Kelly, lifetime supporter and former player for St Patrick's Athletic, is the new manager of McDowell's. PJ has made it very clear that drink driving, underage drinking and lack of respect for staff and patrons will not be tolerated at any time. He has also made it clear that he wants McDowells to be a place of welcome for everyone who wants to enjoy a good evening out in a vibrant, well-run public house.

So, here it is. In the words of the football song, McDowell's Richmond House ‘is coming home'. Now let's go and make a huge success of it. Please feel free to contact PJ to arrange 21st birthday celebrations, residents meetings, race nights or any other celebration in McDowell's and let's really make a success of it.
