COMMUNITY SHIELD PROGRAMME ON THE WAY

St Patrick's Athletic FC and new club sponsor Smart Telecom are together looking forward to instituting a new community programme, labelled the Community Shield, into the Dublin city area in 2005. The future programme will involve the mediation and involvement of the young and underpriveleged children and students throughout the Dublin area. The programme's main goal is to provide the children of the community with positive role models and initiate beneficial ways of living to the young and developing community.

The Community Shield programme serves as another prime example of how the club and club sponsor will continue to work together to improve the local area. Philip Nolan, commercial manager of the club, recently commented, "St Patrick's Athletic and Smart Telecom are committed to helping the community in whatever way they can. One must realise that what happens on the pitch serves as part of an entertaining game. It is what happens off the pitch that matters most."
