St Patrick’s Athletic boss John McDonnell admits his side were punished for elementary mistakes during Friday night’s 2-2 draw with UCD.
The Premier Division leaders seemed to have sewn up a comfortable win but two late goals secured a point for the home side.
And McDonnell conceded the outcome was not good enough, given the position his side had found themselves.
He told RTE Radio: “I didn’t think we had the game won but the players obviously did. We got two goals up but then we switched off. It’s not good enough to be 2-0 up and not come away with a win.
“I’m really disappointed in the way we lost our concentration for the two goals.
“It was basic errors. It’s a general rule that you pick up your man until it’s cleared and we didn’t do that. We were probably lucky to get away with a point in the end.”
