Full backs Ian Bermingham and Derek Pender of UCD and Bray Wanderers respectively have been called into the Republic of Ireland under-23 squad for Tuesday night’s clash with Northern Ireland.
The Lurgan encounter is the Republic of Ireland’s second outing in the International Challenge Trophy, which started with a 2-0 victory over Slovakia in November.
Fenlon was forced to seek reinforcements after St Patrick’s Athletic defender Joe O’Cearuill, Seamus Coleman of Sligo Rovers and Bohemians midfielder Stephen O’Donnell were all ruled out through injury.
College defender Bermingham has already been capped at Ireland under-21 level while Pender has been in excellent form for Bray Wanderers this season.
