The visitors dominated the early stages of the match before Elfsborg were awarded a penalty in the 24th minute which was converted by Stefan Ishizaki.

Elfsborg doubled their lead four minutes later when Johan Karlsson scrambled the ball home from close range.

St Pat's made the breakthrough in the 58th minute with the second penalty of the game which Mark Quigley converted.

The equaliser, and crucial second away goal, came in the 82nd minute when Ryan Guy broke down the right wing before his cross was headed home by Dempsey.
