Finn Harps striker Kevin McHugh has been linked with a host of clubs in the eircom League and Carnegie Premier League – although the Donegal men remain hopeful of tying the classy front man to a new deal at Finn Park.
The 25-year-old – his side’s top scorer for the past five seasons – netted 13 times in the top flight this year but his tally was not enough to prevent Harps relegated after just one season in the Premier Division.
Now a free agent, McHugh is not short of suitors, with north-west clubs Derry City and Sligo Rovers, as well as Bohemians and St Patrick’s Athletic in the capital, all said to be interested.
In addition, he is believed to have options in the Irish League, where Linfield and Portadown are monitoring the situation.
Harps manager Anthony Gorman, confirmed as permanent boss of the Donegal side last week, met with McHugh at the weekend in a bid to tie him to a new deal, but nothing has yet been agreed between the parties.
