St Patrick’s Athletic captain Colm Foley is looking to the future after completing his return to action from a year-long lay-off earlier this week.
Foley played against Shelbourne at Tolka Park on Tuesday night, his first game for the Saints since he broke down with a serious knee injury last year.
And while the result did not go according to plan – in-form Shels climbed to the top of the Premier Division after a 3-0 win – Foley is delighted to have finally completed his comeback.
He told the Irish Sun: “It’s great to be back. Obviously it was a big step to play in the first team again. It was as tough a start as I could get and it was a hard game against Shels.
“I had to come back at some stage but this was a tough one to come back in. I went for a tackle towards the end and got cramp and had to come off but I’m glad I got as many minutes as I did.”
