Local Schools Complete Education Programme

The Primary School Community Programme at Richmond Park was developed by St Patrick's Athletic after feedback from local area school principals within the club's catchment.

The programme was held from May 4th to June 11th and accommodated almost 600 boys and girls who each attended twice.

Tonya Hanly, Principal, of Our Lady of Lourdes, Inchicore has been reflecting on the programme:

"This programme really gave the children something to look forward to each week in what has been a very difficult year for them. They have had very little activities / interaction from outside coaches this year so far, so taking part in the St. Patrick's Athletic programme really was the highlight of the school year."

Nessa O'Sullivan of Mary Queen of Angels, said:

"As a designated DEIS school (a programme aimed at addressing the educational needs of children from disadvantaged communities), the programme nicely complimented the objectives of the DEIS themes of numeracy, well-being and attendance. Our attendance tracker in School Completion Programme discovered that absenteeism was reduced significantly on each day of the Saints in the Community programme."

Magella Clarke from Inchicore National School said:

"The trips proved to be a self-esteem and confidence booster for many children. The children who aren't the most enthusiastic about football were treated so well and encouraged so brilliantly."

Fourth through Sixth Class participated from the following schools:

Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal / The Oblates (Inchicore), Our Lady of Lourdes NS (Inchicore, Inchicore NS, Our Lady of the Wayside (Bluebell), Mary Queen of Angels (Ballyfermot, Loreto Primary School (Crumlin)
