Foley Hat-trick Seals Win

Kildare County Under 21's 0 - St Patrick's Athletic Under 21's 4

A magnificent hat-trick from Michael Foley and another from Robbie Smith helped the Saints to victory last night over Kildare County in Coill Dubh.

The first of Foley's three came after just two minutes when a delicate finish beat the Kildare keeper.

The goal of the half and contender for most bizarre goal of the season came from Robbie Smith. He found himself in space at the left corner flag and although his cross looked to be heading wide of the far post it nestled in the far corner of the net to send Paul Osam's troops in two goals up at the break.

The second half was the Michael Foley show. His passsing, dribbling and finishing cutting open the Kildare defence.

His second, and the Saints third came after some great play by Joey Hayden in midfield. After beating three players he played Foley in to beat the keeper from inside the box.

Foley completed his hat trick before being substituted by Paul Olima.

The victory brings the Saints within 6 points of Bray and UCD at the top of the Dr Tony O'Neill Under 21 league with a game in hand on Bray.

St Pats:
Clarke; McMahon, Sargeant, O'Shea, Bell; Fitzpatrick, Hayden (Doyle G.), Caffrey (Darcy), Fitzsimons; M Foley, Smith
