ALL SAINTS FINAL – Barca 2008 Part 5
In an equally matched final Pats Reds and Pats Blues played out an eleven goal thriller. The spectators watching were treated to a wonderful exhibition of football.
The final was a credit to both teams as they played with wonderful skill and with a smile on their faces. Karl Tims gave the Reds the lead only for Kevin Corcoran to beat Carroll with a long range effort to restore parity.
Dale Kirwan ghosted in to now give the Blues the lead, only for the Reds to then equalize straight away. Craig Smithers showed wonderful awareness, noticing Blues keeper O'Rourke off his line, he demanded the ball immediately from the kick-off and from just in front of his own box Smithers lobbed O'Rourke and equalized for the Reds, 2-2.
Eoin Byrne then put The Reds in front as the game see-sawed from one end to the other. Kirwan grabbed a second as the Blues equalized again. Aaron Oliver now put the Blues ahead at 4-3 and then Glen Carroll made it 4-4.
There seemed to be no respite as Aaron Oliver scored an exquisite goal getting in between defender and keeper to glance the ball into the back of the net 5-4 to the Blues.
Karl Tims then leveled the game for an incredible fifth time before popping up with a winner with only seconds remaining.
