GUY EXTENDS SAINTS STAY
St Patrick's Athletic are pleased to announce that winger Ryan Guy has put pen to paper on a two year contract extension.
The San Diego native arrived in Inchicore in March 2007 and his current deal was due to expire at the end of the current season. His new contract now runs to the end of the 2010 season.
Speaking exclusively to stpatsfc.com Guy expressed his delight to have concluded the deal and his hope to win silverware this season.
“I'm delighted to have the deal signed, it's a good time at the club at the moment, I feel I'm playing well and contributing and my focus is now winning this league Championship.”
The American has contributed to the Saints title push this season with several vital goals. Only last week Guy scored the only goal in the Saints defeat of JFK Olimps Riga in the First Qualifying Round of this season's UEFA Cup, giving the club their first ever away victory in European Competition.
The performance of Irish teams in Europe this season points to an improvement in the standard in the league and Guy feels that this improvement is ongoing.
“The standard, even compared to when I arrived, is very high and is getting better and better. I push myself all the time to achieve the best I can and I feel I'm at the best level I can be at right now and I'm happy with that.
“I definitely feel that I've improved as a player since I arrived at St Pats and that's in no small way to the staff, the training and the other boys around me pushing the standards up every day.”
Saints fans will be hoping that Guy's run of form continues as they seek their first league title under boss John McDonnell.
