4-1 WIN SEES SAINTS ADVANCE IN ALL IRELAND - Part I

Our Under 14's kept up their good start to the season qualifying for the fourth round of the SFAI Cup. They defeated Greystones United on Saturday and will now meet Home Farm in the next round.

Pat's kicked off at a relentless pace and within the first three minutes of the game both Gary Molloy and Karl Tims missed gilt edged chances before Greystones found their feet.

The sea-siders began to match their opponents and had a good claim for a penalty but it was waved away by the referee. Then Martin Carroll brilliantly saved a stinging drive from 10 yards which rebounded off the crossbar and was then cleared.

In the 15th minute a driving run by Craig Smithers from inside his own half and a swift pass to the feet of Danny O'Leary, who turned, his marker made a tackle to win the ball but it rebounded off O'Leary back into the surging run of Smithers, a touch forward with his right foot and a smashing left foot drive saw the ball fly into the net from 20 yards – 1-0 Pats.

The 2nd half started well for the Saints as within the first 2 minutes Eoin Byrne found Will McMahon wide on the right, his low drive into the penalty area saw Danny O'Leary ghost in and neatly tuck away goal number two.
