CONOR KENNA SIGNS FOR ST PAT’S

St Patrick's Athletic are pleased to announce the signing of central defender Conor Kenna who played last season with Drogheda United in the League of Ireland.

“To be honest it all happened very quickly”, said the 25 year old defender”, “I was due to play against Pat's on Wednesday in the Leinster Senior Cup and now find myself signing for them”.

Kenna played underage football with Kilnamanagh, Lourdes Celtic and Cherry Orchard before making the move over to Coventry as a 15 year old.

After four years he returned to League of Ireland football with Shelbourne before joining UCD under Pete Mahon for four years.

On working again with his former UCD boss Kenna said “I know what to expect from Pete – he's pretty straight-talking and tells you how it is”.

Kenna trained with St Pat's when he first returned from the UK but he will be hoping to make a far bigger impact with the club this time around “I've already played with some of the lads at Cherry Orchard and with the underage squads (Kenna featured in Irish U-21 and U-23 squads) but my aim will be to get back playing football, to break into the Pat's team and help the team to finish as high up the league as possible”.

St Pat's latest signing is expected to join his team-mates tomorrow night when they take on Longford Town in a friendly at Richmond Park.

The match is due to kick off at 7.45pm and tickets to see the new look Saints team in action are on sale from the club shop.
