Team News: St Pat's Vs Derry City

St Patrick's Athletic host Derry City in Richmond Park on Friday night as they go in search of three points in the SSE Airtricity League (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Saints will be looking to record a victory over the Candystripes having drawn 2-2 earlier in the season in Maginn Park through goals from Kurtis Byrne and Conan Byrne.

In team news, the Saints are without the services of Owen Garvan who serves a one match suspension having been sent off in last week's 1-0 defeat to league leaders Cork City. Darren Dennehy misses out through injury, however his edging a return to full fitness having returned to training.

"I was really pleased with the effort and commitment of the players last week as things went against them. We've taken the positives of that into this week's game, and after working on a few things, we're in a good state of mind heading into the game.

"Derry play a good brand of football and are a youthful side so they will come to Richmond Park looking to be positive. It should make for a good game so we're hoping to make our mark on the game as we go after the three points."

Speaking to www.stpatsfc.com before the game, Saints' skipper Ian Bermingham pointed to the game between the sides earlier in the season as an indicator of what he expected on Friday night, however he noted that the Saints would be aiming to this time take all three points.

"Derry are an excellent side. We played them earlier in the season up in Maginn Park in Buncrana earlier in the season, and to be fair they were very good on the night.

Their movement was very impressive, so we know it's going to be a very tough game on Friday night. But we've prepared well and are now looking forward to the game so hopefully we can pick up the three points.

"Winning games gives you confidence, and I think if we can pick up a win, we can hopefully start looking up the table and make sure we're at it from now to the end of the season."
