Window Open For Maynooth University Scholarships

The window for applications for St Patrick's Athletic/Maynooth University scholarships is now open, with scholars having the opportunity to play League of Ireland football while also pursuing their academic qualifications.

Previous recipients of the scholarship include current Saints' midfielder and Republic of Ireland underage international Darragh Markey, as well as U19 squad member Jason Grouse, Paul Cleary, Brian McGivern and Cian Hughes. Past recipients of the scholarship include Jake Carroll (currently with Cambridge United) and Fuad Sule (currently with Barnet FC), as well as Republic of Ireland underage internationals Sean Hoare, Jack Bayly, Jamie McGrath and Paul Rooney who all featured in the club's first team squad.

Maynooth University is committed to the development of sporting excellence, and awards a number of soccer scholarships annually to promote and foster sporting talent in the University.

All teams are coached by experienced UEFA qualified coaches, while all applicants will be considered regardless of which club they currently play for. Soccer Scholarship students & students that represent Maynooth University Soccer have access to the first class sports facilities and supports on campus.

Maynooth won the prestigious Collingwood Cup for the first time in their history in 2014 with St Patrick's Athletic having a strong contingent involved in the side, with Sean Hoare captaining the team and current Saints' Director of Football managing the side to success.

MAYNOOTH UNIVERSITY SOCCER SCHOLARSHIP; UNIVERSITY ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants are required to meet the normal matriculation requirements and any special course requirements. In recognition of the competition and training commitments of high performance athletes, successful soccer scholarship applicants will be credited with up to CAO 60 points (as required) to assist them get their Maynooth University course of choice. Applicants will be expected to have attained at least 300 points in their best six Leaving Certificte subjects. Postgraduate applications will be considered on a case by case basis.

ELIGIBILITY
Scholarships are intended for student athletes with proven or perceived potential to perform at a high level. They are awarded to both under graduate and post graduate students for a period of one year, but can be renewed subject to a satisfactory level of academic and sporting progression being maintained. Application is open to all regardless of which club you currently play for.
