The Saint (Vol 33 #13)

Welcome back to Richmond Park, or to a screen near you, after three weeks on the road.

While the defeat to Finn Harps was a bad night, last weeks triumph with a badly depleted squad away to Cork City was important.

Mostly because it gets us into a home quarter-final against Wexford at home, but also because of what it showed in terms of the character of the squad.

Decimated by injuries and suspensions, the win showed at full time, after the penos, what a united group of players, coaches and management we have at the club. Massive credit must be given to Alan Mathews, Stephen O'Donnell and all the coaching staff (yes ALL-you know who I am talking about). They have created a formidable team spirit that has given us a highly enjoyable season so far.

Also, the achievement of the U19's in reaching the Europa Youth League is massive, and their forthcoming tie against Crvena Zvezda of Serbia is a mouthwatering one. Our Academy Director Ger O'Brien has helped create one of the finest academies in Irish football and continues to do an incredible job for the club.

These are good times to be a St Patrick's Athletic fan, all that's missing are more of us at the ground this evening.

We hope that our good behaviour, and those of all other LOI clubs, in obeying public health guidelines will be rewarded with a loosening of restrictions similar to what we have seen in Croke Park recently, although with spectator safety remaining to the fore. Let's all get behind the lads tonight and get another three points in our heartening run of home form.

Thanks again to design and contributors and you the readers for continuing to make The Saint such a success this season. There's another cracking read in store for you in these pages.

We hope you enjoy this week's edition which you can read online or download the PDF version here.
