#SAINTS2023 | Carty Signs On Loan

St Patrick's Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of striker Conor Carty on loan from EFL League 1 side Bolton Wanderers.

The 20-year-old attacker could make his debut for the club in today's pre-season game against Sligo Rovers, he has been named the bench.

The Wicklow native joined Wolverhampton Wanderers from St Francis in 2017 and signed his first professional contract at Molineux in April 2020.

After five years at Wolves, Carty joined Bolton Wanderers in June 2022 and has had loan spells this season with English National League sides Oldham Athletic and Gateshead before his arrival in Inchicore this week.

The Ireland underage international is delighted to have joined The Super Saints:"I'm really happy to be here. Tim Clancy was in touch with Bolton and I had a zoom call with Tim and Alan Mathews, we had some good conversations and they won me over on the call, I'm really looking forward to getting started.

I also spoke to Eoin Doyle who was at Bolton previously, I know Anto Breslin too from my time at Wolves, they told me a lot about the club and the league, I'm looking forward to training and playing with Doyler and the rest of the squad.

The lads were saying that St Pat's have great supporters and get great crowds for the games home and away so I'm really looking forward to playing in those atmospheres and ill be doing my best to help the team and the club."

Manager Tim Clancy added: "We are really happy with the addition of Conor to the squad, he gives us a third option in the centre forward position and he is a little bit different to Eoin Doyle and Tommy Lonergan in terms of how he plays. Conor likes to make runs in behind which gives us another good option in that area of the pitch.

This loan move is good for both ourselves and for Conor, it will give him exposure to first team football, he's had two loans in the National League too where he's gained good experience there which we hope he'll be able to add to here at Pat's.

We've got two excellent young strikers now in Conor and Tommy to work alongside someone like Eoin Doyle and other experienced players in the squad like Chris Forrester, we'll be hoping to play a good brand of attacking football, creating lots of chances and hopefully lots of goals, with that in mind we are delighted to be adding a player of Conor's quality to the group."

Conor wear the number 15 shirt at Richmond Park.
