Jay McClelland Pens New Contract
St Patrick's Athletic are pleased to confirm that Jason McClelland has signed a new contract as he heads into his 7th season as a Saint.
Since arriving at Richmond Park ahead of the 2020 season, McClelland has made 170 appearances for the club and was part of our 2021 and 2023 FAI Cup successes.
The 28-year-old played 42 times in 2025, including 28 starts.
In the current squad, only Chris Forrester and Jamie Lennon have played more games for St Pat's.
McClelland joined The Saints from UCD AFC in November 2019. He signed for the Belfield outfit in July 2015 and moved quickly from their U19s into their First Team, making his LOI debut against Cabinteely in the First Division the same month.
He made over 100 appearances for The Students and was part of their 2018 First Division winning squad.
McClelland is delighted to extend his stay in Inchicore:
"I'm delighted to get it done and to be back, I feel like I've spent most of my life here so I'm happy to continue here.
I've been really happy here for the last six seasons and I think I'll play my best football with St Pat's. Me and my family and my girlfriend all love it here, they all have season tickets and come to all of the games and it feels like home.
We've won two FAI Cups since I've been here which was great, we've had some great days in the League and in Europe, hopefully we can push on and have a good season in 2026. I'm proud to be going into my 7th season here."

"I'm delighted that Jason has re-signed, he's obviously been a St Patrick's Athletic player for a number of years and has done well.
He has great values, a really high level of professionalism and determination and is a really good team mate to his fellow players.
Jason has the tactical flexibility to be able to play in a number of positions too which is important."
Sporting Director Ger O'Brien has also welcomed McClelland's new deal:
