Club Statement: Section G
St Patrick's Athletic has received disciplinary sanctions following incidents during our FAI Cup fixture against Shamrock Rovers at Richmond Park on Sunday, 16 August.
The Club has received a substantial fine relating to pyrotechnics, missiles, pitch encroachment and spectator conduct. This included individuals entering the field of play and confronting opposition players.
In addition, the FAI has imposed a one-match partial stadium closure of Section G. This closure is currently suspended for the remainder of the 2026 League of Ireland season.
This means that any further incident of this nature could result in Section G being closed for a home match. If that happens, it will affect hundreds of loyal supporters who have done nothing wrong, including Season Ticket Holders who may be unable to use their usual section.
Entering the field of play is strictly prohibited at all times - before, during or after a match. Regardless of the circumstances or emotions involved, supporters must never enter the pitch or approach players or match officials.
These incidents have serious consequences for the Club. Beyond the substantial financial penalties, they put the safety of players, officials, staff and fellow supporters at risk, damage the reputation of St Patrick's Athletic and could cost the team the support and atmosphere generated from Section G at an important home fixture.
The actions of a very small number of people cannot be allowed to negatively affect the entire Section G support or the wider Club.
Anyone entering the field of play or engaging in threatening or unacceptable behaviour may be removed from the stadium, banned from attending future fixtures and reported to the relevant authorities.
We ask all Season Ticket Holders to support the Club by respecting these regulations and immediately following the instructions of stewards and Club officials.
If your Season Ticket is used by somebody else, please ensure they are also aware of this notice. We particularly ask parents and guardians to discuss this with any young supporters attending matches.
Section G plays a huge part in the atmosphere at Richmond Park. We want that support to continue throughout the remainder of the season, but we need everyone's cooperation to ensure it can.
