Ballyfermot man 'Bermo' signed for the Saints at the start of the 2010 season after Pete Mahon convinced the left back to join the club.

Ian is our record league appearance holder and 2021 will be his 12th season as a Super Saint, a true club legend

A former Republic of Ireland international at various levels leading up to the U21 grade, Ian has been superbly consistent throughout his time with the Saints having been voted onto the PFAI Team of the Year in both 2012 and 2013.

Recognition of Ian's superb contribution to the club was highlighted at the end of the 2012 season as the defender won the club's Player of the Year award.

Bermingham started out with Lourdes Celtic where his displays there earned him call-ups to the Irish underage set-up - lining up at the time with the likes of Saints' schoolboy, Derek Foran.

Bermingham joined Pete Mahon's UCD in 2007 where, after quickly making the jump from non-league football to League of Ireland, he impressed both Scottish side Gretna and English side Stockport County. However despite the interest shown in him, Bermingham remained at UCD into 2008 where he would later make his U21 international debut against Lithuania.

After experiencing the heartbreak of relegation with UCD in 2008, the left full-back joined Shamrock Rovers. Bermingham failed to become a first team regular and made limited appearances.

After a disappointing year with Rovers, the defender joined the Saints and linked up once more with Pete Mahon where he has since gone on from strength to strength.
