St Patrick's Athletic ensured the brought their run in the group stage of the Setanta Sports Cup to a fitting close at Shamrock Park where they maintained their unbeaten run at Portadown's expense.

St Pat's ensured their initial bid in the competition would be a noteworthy one as the recorded their fifth win from their six group matches and finished with 16 points out of a maximum of 18.

St Pat's are now assured of a home venue in the semi-final and they will know their opponents after Drogheda United meet Derry City tomorrow night in United Park. Derry must win by two goals or more to advance at Drogheda's expense.

St Pat's jumped in front against Portadown when Eamonn Lynch scored after 52 minutes.

Sean O'Connor then claimed two goals, one after 62 minutes and his second in the 71st minute.
