A hat-trick from ace striker Garry O'Connor helped Scottish Premier League side Hibernian to a convincing victory over St Patrick's Athletic in a pre-season friendly at Richmond Park on Tuesday night.
Taking place just 24 hours after the Saints' eircom League Cup quarter-final defeat at the hands of Shelbourne, the game and the quality of opposition proved too much for the Inchicore side.
Scotland international O'Connor, who passed a fitness test to take his place in the side, opened the scoring after 15 minutes and doubled his side's lead shortly before the break.
Sam Morrow also netted before half-time to leave the Scots 3-0 to the good at the interval, and it got no better for the home side moments after half-time as O'Connor completed his hat-trick.
Dean Shiels made it 5-0 with almost half an hour still remaining as the understrength Saints struggled to cope with the pace and movement of the SPL side, who are stepping up their preparations for their Uefa Cup campaign later in the summer.
