HAVERTY CALLED INTO IRISH SQUAD TO FACE CZECHS

IN PREPARATION for the U19 European Championships Finals qualifying round scheduled to begin in May, the Republic of Ireland set off at the weekend to play two friendlies against The Czech Republic.

Congratulations to St. Patrick's Athletic defender Noel Haverty, who has been promoted from the Irish U18 squad by Sean McCaffrey to the U19s for the trip to Prague.

The first game against the Czechs is on Tuesday, April 12th in Hlinkso followed by their final game on Thursday, April 26th in Chocen.

The games against the Czechs are to prepare the Irish squad for their qualifying group with Hungary, Germany and Bulgaria. The Boys in Green will have home advantage for the qualifiers with only the team that finishes top of the group advancing to the Finals - to be staged in Austria from 16-27 July.

Ireland will open their qualification matches against Bulgaria on Monday, May 14th at Richmond Park followed two days later when they host Germany at Tolka Park. They conclude their group on Saturday, May 19th by facing Hungary at United Park, Drogheda.
