Saints, Sligo Fined For Colour Clash
St Patrick's Athletic and Sligo Rovers have each been hit with four-figure fines following the clash of team kits which occurred before the opening game of the season.
Match official Anthony Buttimer deemed that Saints' red and white kit clashed with Rovers' all-white away strip on the night.
The game was delayed for more than half an hour, and eventually kicked off with the unsatisfactory scenario of Sligo appearing in St Pats' navy away kit.
The eircom League of Ireland's Disciplinary Committee discussed the matter this week and imposed fines of €1000 on both clubs.
Pats were deemed to be in breach of Rule 13.3 of the Participation Agreement, while Rovers were found to have failed to bring a second strip as required.
In additional fines, St Pats must fork out €150 and Sligo €100 as a result of objects having been thrown onto the field of play during the game.
