Head Groundsman Anto Maguire Retires
St Patrick's Athletic Head Groundsman Anto Maguire has retired from the club after almost 20 years at Richmond Park.
Since joining in 2003, Anto did a terrific job overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of Richmond Park, with particular attention to the playing surface, which has been one of the best in the league during his tenure.
Maguire was a familiar and friendly face around the ground for almost two decades.
Club Chairman Garrett Kelleher presented Anto with a watch after hosting a retirement lunch with club staff to with Anto well.
General Manager Anthony Delaney said:
"Anto has given many years of great service which is something that all at the Club are grateful for. His expertise and attention to detail made the playing surface at Richmond Park one of the best in the country and this has contributed to the success of our teams over this period. His work behind the scenes has kept match nights operating smoothly during his time with St Patrick's Athletic and I would like to thank him for that also.
Anto has been ever present during my time here and it is sad to see him retire, but all good things come to an end. He is a great character, has been a great friend and will be missed by all at St Patrick's Athletic. I would like to wish Anto a happy retirement and again tell him that he will always be welcome at Richmond Park in the future, we hope to see him soon."
Evertone at the club would like to echo Anthony's sentiments and wish Anto well in his retirement, we're looking forward to seeing him around Richmond Park as a fan.
Ovidiu Nenestean Daniel has been appointed as our new Head Groundsman, we'd like to wish him luck in his new role, with Dave Carter continuing his excellent work as Assistant Groundsman.
